Badminton: Fossombroni is regional champion

Grosseto: Fossombroni from Grosseto is regional badminton champion in the student category. The girls led by teacher Stefano Rosini imposed themselves in the final in Arezzo, winning the regional title that opens the doors to the national stage.

In the preliminary round, the Fossombroni selection made up of Benedetta Bartolini, Angeljna Krasniqi, Valentina and Veronica Rolando, passed the Benvenuto Cellini institute in Florence and the XXV Aprile high school in Pisa. In the first meeting with the Pisan peers, the Fossombroni girls won the first singles 2-0, losing the second with the same score, but the success in the doubles was crucial to overcome the first obstacle. Very similar is the comparison with the Florentine opponents who took the lead in the first singular, to then collect the Grosseto comeback with the success in the second game and that in the doubles. The primacy in the group gave access to the final, played against the hosts of the artistic high school of Arezzo. The Arezzo team were defeated in the first singles by 2-1, but reacted in the second with a 2-0 success. Once again the double was decisive, won by Fossombroni 2-0. Sara Corridori and Dana Sarnataro were also part of the Grosseto team.

The head of the Fossombroni school, Francesca Dini, congratulates her on the excellent result obtained in this Olympic sport which has been successfully included in the school program. Now the Fossombroni girls will prepare for the national finals scheduled from 23 to 26 May in Folgaria, in the province of Trento.
