Liverpool have recovered in the Premier League after the painful draw against Tottenham. The Reds struggled to win 1-2 on the field of Aston Villa on Tuesday evening, putting the pressure on Manchester City again.
Liverpool are no longer in control of their fate and can no longer afford to make a mistake in the title race. But on a visit to Aston Villa, coach Jürgen Klopp’s team had a particularly difficult time dealing with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s boys.
Gerrard saw how his ex-team was already in debt after 3 minutes after a goal by Douglas Luiz. Matip did ensure a quick equalizer on behalf of Liverpool.
Then it was quite a long wait for the Liverpool fans for the redeeming 1-2. It didn’t come until a little past the hour, when the inevitable Mane nodded in a cross from Luis Diaz.
In the remainder of the game, the visitors played with fire. Ings (ex-Liverpool) in particular flirted with a goal a few times, but Liverpool held out with great difficulty.
In the position, the Reds hoist themselves again next to Manchester City, but City has played one game less. Kevin De Bruyne and co are on Wednesday evening in Wolverhampton.
