Three key interventions by Landeta keep the team alive against Burgos Promises

Arzuaga’s solitary goal and Landeta’s saves were key for Arenas to narrowly beat Burgos Promesas. The 0-1 consolidates the Getxotarras in fourth place and represents a full win for Toño Vadillo, who has been in charge of the Getxotarra bench for two days.

The red and blacks have dominated without bothering the rival area during the first half hour. The inaccuracies in the passes and the local defensive success have been key to leaving them without a single clear chance. The only mentionable one came in a very fast counter launched by Lizarraga himself, which ended in a very lukewarm shot saved without problems by Óscar López.

Landeta, Grande, Jonma, Celihueta, Arzuaga, Gabriel (Ibargoien, min. 85), Garro, Jurgi Oteo (Izeta, min. 56), Rozas, Jon Vega (Escobar, m. 60) and Arzalluz (Zorrilla, min. 56) ).

  • Gol:
    0-1, m. 19: Arzuaga’s powerful and placed shot

  • Referee:
Sergio Álvarez, assisted by Sergio Martín and Diego Menéndez. He showed yellow cards to local Marcos Gil (min. 79), and to visitors Celihueta (min. 45) and Jon Vega (min. 55).

The best options have been for Carlos Aguilera’s team. In the 17th minute, Heras had it, always very active and incisive, taking advantage of the fact that Jonma Vega rushed too far in a clearance that bounced off the local striker, who was left alone to cross Barahona, whose shot went wide .

And in minute 34, it could have totally changed the course of the match if it hadn’t been for the two prodigious interventions made by Landeta on the same play. First he has rejected a tremendous header from the captain -Mota- and then another from Nacho Heras who was very close to the squad.

Burgos Promesas created danger on set pieces and on the quick incursions down the flanks by Barahona, Pineda and Heras. In the end, their approximations have not had any reward. The game has been intense for both sides, who were playing to keep their options alive to play the promotion play-offs.

Mirage in the second part

After the break it was clear that the Getxo coach didn’t like what he saw. Aguilera’s team has started dominating this period while Arenas didn’t give the feeling of that battle-hardened team exerting crippling pressure. It was a mirage, with a loose game and lacking bite. That is why he has introduced changes in the 56th minute. He has put up to three men in four minutes. And the truth is that the entry of Izeta, Zorrilla and Escobar has given poise to the game.

However, it has been difficult for that golden opportunity to arrive. He has been delayed until late in the game. In a red and black attack, with a shot by Izeta, the ball reached Arzuaga in the area who, coldly, took a measured shot to the top corner. It was a measured shot.

The 0-1 has left the white team very touched, who tried with heart. But in 1990, Landeta has reappeared. Barahona’s measured pass to the far post was headed by Heras very close to the post, poking the ball, but the goalkeeper from Getxo was very quick to reject it for a corner. Heras did not believe it, but today Landeta has been the true shield of an Arenas that continues on a roll with Vadillo at the helm.
