“Announcement is only a matter of time: Schmidt almost has Neres in”

The transfer of David Neres to Benfica is a matter of time, reports the Portuguese newspaper A Bola. The talks are in the final phase.

According to A Bola, it must be strange if Neres does not want to make the switch from Shakhtar Donetsk to Benfica. It has been clear for some time that the Brazilian is leaving Ukraine. Olympique Lyon and Juventus were linked to the former Ajax player, but he is expected to work with Roger Schmidt. There is reportedly no agreement between Benfica and Neres regarding the salary, but that is expected soon. After that, the announcement is only a matter of time.

Neres made the switch from Ajax to Shakhtar for twelve million euros last January. He signed until the summer of 2026. However, he never made his debut for the top club from Ukraine. Neres and his girlfriend had to flee for security reasons because of the invasion by Russia.
