Andora, excursion on the hills from Rollo to Monte Bandia

Andora. On Sunday 15 May we will be able to participate in a very scenic trek in the hills, organized by the Municipality of Andora and departing from Rollo and arriving at Monte Bandia. A medieval fountain, the Holy Trinity Church and a fifteenth-century castle represent the attractions that meet at the beginning of the excursion.

Once you reach the La Colla pass you can enjoy the view over the gulfs of Andora and Diano Marina. The route is a continuous ups and downs, continue north and reach Colle Mea (383 m), Monte Chiappa (541 m) and Monte Bandia (565 m). Passo Chiappa is an important road junction to reach both Val Merula (crossing Conna or Stellanello) and Valle Steria (San Bartolomeo, Villa Faraldi and Chiappa).

The vegetation is linked to the altitude and exposure to the sun and is typically the spontaneous one of the Ligurian hills, changing according to the area. The route crosses an arid area and plants and shrubs stand out such as strawberry trees, laurel, broom, oleander, juniper, myrtle, heather and prickly pears. Among the aromatic plants there are rue, sage, oregano, thyme, wild fennel and rarely wild asparagus. In the last climb to the top of Monte Bandia you can admire tall trees that rise above the others, such as holm oak, downy oak and carob.

The excursion will last 5 hours, will be over a distance of 12 km, a difference in height of 300 m and accompanied by Marian Mocanu, environmental hiking guide and tour guide associated with Aigae and Agael. Registration by telephone or e-mail is mandatory. The meeting will be at 8:30 am in the parking lot adjacent to the motorway exit.
