“An incomprehensible decision”: Pep Guardiola pulled Kevin De Bruyne to the side in minute 72 | Champions League

Early in the match, De Bruyne did take a hard hit from Casemiro, but the metronome didn’t seem to be bothered by that in the rest of the match.

“Incomprehensible”, concluded Wim De Coninck at Proximus. “He had two or three lesser assumptions, but it’s not like he wasn’t in the game. In the end, Guardiola could have used him very well.”

“The question is always: why are you taking your best player off?” added Wesley Sonck. “Certainly because De Bruyne is such a real winner. Maybe they thought it was inside. There are only two people who can answer the question: Guardiola and De Bruyne. I think Kevin is at a level where he can communicate with his coach.”

Looking forward to Guardiola’s explanation at the press conference afterwards…
