“A month ago, I would probably have chosen Jean Butez, who played in an Antwerp team where he was in high demand. But the playoffs changed the situation. Mignolet was decisive and spectacular there. He saved goals and points, at important times. He is the best goalkeeper in Belgium and he confirmed this status after going through a slightly more complicated period. His pride was a little affected when he was less well , although he had been relatively untouched by criticism. Managing the timing of his knee surgery was very good, from a strategic point of view, to be in good shape at the right time. A winning bet.”
