A pair of Jordan tennis shoes is auctioned for 16,000 euros in Paris

An auction of tennis shoes held in Paris collected about 120,000 euros, and the record corresponded to the 16,120 euros paid for a pair of Nike Air Jordan 1 tennis shoes, reported the auctioneer Millon.

The Jordan 1 Retro High Off-White pair of sneakers, signed by basketball player Michael Jordan, was designed in white leather by creator Virgil Abloh.

The second most expensive pair corresponded to Jordan 1 Retro High Dior, which sold for 9,672 euros.

The Millon auction house, in a statement sent to AFP, welcomed a “better than expected result”, with 70% of the 207 pieces sold, more than 250 participants connected online and a full room.

Tennis shoes (“sneakers” for those who are passionate about these garments) have acquired the status of collector’s items in recent years.

The models of the American Virgil Abloh, designer of Nike and Louis Vuitton, who died in November at the age of 41, are among the most sought after on the market.

In February, one of the last ones he conceived was auctioned off for $352,800.

The records, however, correspond to the tennis shoes worn by sports or hip hop legends, which can exceed a million dollars.
