Young archers at Le Ruet

All day Wednesday, fourteen young archers aged 10 to 18 came to train at the Ruet stadium, a hamlet of Chailley that the town has equipped for outdoor archery practice. A day of intense practice for these young people who were supervised by Jean Chollet, their local coach, and by Patrice François, regional youth technical adviser who came especially from Beaune.

“Work Pays”

“As part of the Elite Youth program, I go home and do a monthly follow-up,” explains the technician. I come in addition to the coaches of the club. And it is quite logically that we take advantage of the holidays to organize an internship. The Brienon club is an Etaf club ( Editor’s note: French archery school ). It is one of the eighteen best French and there are only two in Burgundy. It leads a real policy of openness to young people. »

This is not denied by Jean Chollet, head of the chaillotine branch of the Sentinelle: “We are creating the best conditions for young people, even those with disabilities, to come and discover this sport. We lend them the equipment, but in return they must agree to come to three training sessions a week and to participate in the competitions to which they are asked to go. This work pays because 5 to 10 of today’s trainees have taken part in France indoors or outdoors. »

“Today we have chosen the Chailley site because the center of Brienon is preparing to host a competition this weekend, he adds. This also allows those who have never been here to discover our equipment and find themselves in a competitive situation. It was thus in a very bucolic atmosphere and under a gentle spring sun that the eight girls and six boys present were able to refine their shooting technique throughout the day.
