halve finales (best of 33)
Mark Williams (Wal-8)Judd Trump (Eng-4)16-17
John Higgins (Sch-6)Ronnie O’Sullivan (Eng-2)11-17
  1. 9:32 pm O’Sullivan on record sigh. Ronnie O’Sullivan has qualified for his 8th World Cup final, where he can compete for a 7th world title. With this O’Sullivan would equal the (modern) record of Stephen Hendry. In the semi-final we got a duel between 2 veterans, because John Higgins himself was already 8 times in a World Cup final. The Scot seemed to take it off after a quick 3-0 lead, but gradually O’Sullivan walked away with it. O’Sullivan started the final session with a comfortable lead. The deciding frame was a masterclass, in which he pocketed one unlikely ball after another. The final against Judd Trump will be a dime on paper. They have already played against each other 29 times, of which the 14-year-younger Trump won 15. In addition, of the 11 finals they played against each other, Trump won 8.
  2. 7 p.m. 33. Trump still to the final! The last frame is for Judd Trump! Both players made it difficult for each other in the initial phase, but it was Trump who took the upper hand and went 50-1. An error of judgment embarrassed the 32-year-old Briton, but Williams was unable to turn the solid backlog. Judd Trump showed his confidence and with some delicious shots he pushed Williams towards the exit. Tonight, Higgins and top favorite O’Sullivan will compete for the final final ticket. †
  3. 6 p.m. 51. Fantastic Williams comeback. In a great nail-biter, Judd Trump and Mark Williams will decide who can go to the World Cup final in a decider. Williams completed a brilliant comeback in the last session and took the lead for the first time at 15-16, but Trump fought back and still dragged a decider out of the fire. After a standing ovation, both clappers started a nerve-racking final frame. †
  4. 14h35. Ronnie O’Sullivan can already smell the finale. Ronnie O’Sullivan has put himself in pole position to qualify for the final of the World Snooker Championship. The 6-time world champion took a 6-frame lead against John Higgins on Saturday and needs 2 more frames to qualify for the final for the 8th time in his career. O’Sullivan started the session with a 4 frame bonus, but fighter Higgins – himself a 4-time world champion – was determined to get back into the game. The Scot won the first frame of the day straight away, but with a handsome break of 82, O’Sullivan again recovered the 4-frame difference. The two members of the infamous “Class of 92” served up delicious snooker, with tactical jousts, clever clearances and a handful of century’s. Higgins defended himself like a devil in a holy water font, but sometimes luck wasn’t on his side either. In the 23rd frame, the ever cold-blooded Scotsman even lost his composure for a moment. O’Sullivan kept his focus and mercilessly punished Higgins’ small mistakes. The English crowd favorite won the last 3 frames of the session, including a break of 121 and a 134 break, and is now 2 frames into the final. If he manages to take his 7th world title, he will rival living legend Stephen Hendry. †

  6. 11 p.m. 37. Mark Williams comeback. From 11-5 to 13-11. Judd Trump already seemed to have one leg in the final of the World Cup, but Mark Williams has again managed to fight in the game. The three-time world champion will have the chance to complete his comeback tomorrow and secure a coveted spot in the final. †
  7. 7 p.m. 01. Judd Trump on his way to finals. Englishman Judd Trump has the best papers to reach the final. Today he successfully defended his 7-1 lead. 11-5 it is now. If Trump also manages to bring the sequel to a successful conclusion, he is probably waiting for a duel against O’Sullivan in the battle for the world title. †
  8. 6:54 pm O’Sullivan leads by four frames. Ronnie O’Sullivan has yet to beat his opponent John Higgins in a head-to-head confrontation, but now seems well on his way to secure a spot in the final. After the second part, the Englishman is comfortably in the lead with a four-frame lead over his Scottish opponent: 10-6. †
  9. 29-04-2022.
  10. 11 p.m. 41. Higgins and O’Sullivan tie for second part. John Higgins and O’Sullivan end the first part of their showdown with a draw. Four-time world champion Higgins quickly took a 3-0 lead but then slumped. The signal for O’Sullivan to bring out his best snooker, the Englishman fought back to a tie: 4-4. Tomorrow they will finish the second part of their batch. †
