Tenth in the standings, tied for the moment with seven other Americans Harry Higg, Kevin Na, Daniel Berger, Tony Finau, Webb Simpson, Harold Varner III and Will Zalatoris as well as the Briton Matthieu Fitzpatrick, also at -4, the miracle of the February 23 showed the utmost seriousness and made no major mistakes, with the exception of two “stupid mistakes”, to hear the person concerned, on hole n°8, which moreover left a lot of bitterness afterwards to the native of Cypress (California). On the other holes, however, the most anticipated golfer of this 86th edition, which takes place without any French player, showed constant solidity, without showing the slightest sign of feverishness in his right leg, much scrutinized by observers.
