Wimbledon 2022: Several Russian and Belarusian tennis players study measures against Wimbledon

UA group of Russian and Belarusian tennis players, both from the ATP and the WTA, are studying what actions to take against the organizers of the Wimbledon tournament, the third Grand Slam of the season, which recently announced that prohibit the participation of these players in the tournament because of the war in Ukraine.

This group of players has hired a Parisian lawyer specialized in human rights and the fight against discrimination to try, as a first step, a conciliation.

However, the players are also considering taking legal action against the tournament. They request from Wimbledon an attitude similar to that of other Grand Slams, such as Roland-Garros, and tournaments, that is to say, that they be allowed to play under a neutral flag and without an anthem.

You have to remember that the British Federation also adopted this veto together with Wimbledon, so Russian and Belarusian tennis players will also not be able to play the grass tournaments of Queen’s, Nottingham, Birmingham or Eastbourne, prior to the Grand Slam.
