Willson and “Salvy” get within range of Ramón Hernández

Willson Contreras together with Salvador Pérez continue to confirm their role within the team they defend in Major League Baseball and thanks to receiving the support of their managers, they were once again behind the plate in the regular season premiere, which It allows them to approach the record for a Venezuelan catcher with the most games in that position on Opening Day, which is held by Ramón Hernández (12).

Contreras was chosen by David Ross to jump onto the field at Wrigley Field in last Thursday’s duel as a local squad against the Milwaukee Brewers (they won 5-4) and such a move made him make six appearances on MLB Opening Day.

His first opportunity came on April 2, 2017 when the second campaign with the bear cubs was taking place.

For his part, Pérez made eight appearances at the catcher position after the game in which the Kansas City Royals beat the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 at Kauffman Stadium.

The first commitment with this function for “Salvy” was on April 1, 2013 (third harvest in the ranks of the “monarchs”).

Ramón Hernández was in the MLB for 15 seasons (1999-2013) and wore the shirts of the Athletics, Padres, Orioles, Reds, Rockies and Dodgers.
