In the third game, the people of Liepaja beat Jūrmala’s “Spartaku” 2: 0, who is the only one who has no points yet. The Spartans, of course, were “lucky” with the game calendar – in the first four rounds they had to meet with the first four teams of last season. Three of them have already lost to Jūrmala team (RFS – 2: 3, “Valmiera FC” – 1: 4 and FK “Liepāja” – 0: 2), but now “Riga FC” will face and only then the team against which the Spartakians will be favorites (Premier League debutante Salaspils “Super Nova”), although this does not guarantee them anything. At the end of the game, Tins Vukmaničs was already on the pitch with the Liepaja players, only Leonelu Vambā has to wait. Such a calendar can also be beneficial for the Spartans – in games with a favorite quartet, the team will have gained a very valuable playing practice, until the matches with direct competitors, all players must be in line and then it should be another team.
The champion RFS – 1: 1 with FK “Metta” lost points in the third game. Already in the 21st second, Artyom Puzirevsky scored a goal (19 years, height 190 cm and reminiscent of Vladislav Gutkovski with his game) in the 9th minute, the result became 1: 1, but the goal flow did not follow. Yes, RFS had the advantage and there were more chances to score, but “Metta” could also stand out and reminded that everyone will have to reckon with this team this season as well. Last year, the two teams also finished their first match in a draw – 3: 3 (moreover, the Mets played from 1: 3), but then RFS won three times convincingly (3: 0, 4: 1 and 5: 2).
The vice-champion “Valmiera FC” also lost points – 0: 0 with BFC “Daugavpils”. The first goalless draw in the games of both teams since 2019, when the Daugavpils team returned to the super league (they won only one of the 12 mutual games). The controversy during and after the game was caused by an episode in the home court, after which the goal scored by the Valmiera team was not included – the chief referee of the match Andris Treimanis recorded the game with his hand for the Colombian Man. From other points of view (the episode of them could not be seen on the TV replay), it was possible to see that the ball hit Rītis Krjauklis and not Mena, others again believe that the ball hit both of them in the bustle of the penalty area. It is no longer a question of awarding or not awarding a penalty kick of 11 m, because there was no reason for it, it is a matter of not counting the goals scored by the Valmiera team … Anyway, hardly only this disputed episode deprived the victory of the vice-champions.
In turn, Daugavpils residents still have a question about where to play home games – at the “Builder’s” stadium it is allowed to do so until May. The fact that the artificial surface of the football field has become obsolete and has worn its time became known today, not yesterday and not even three years ago, but nothing changes. And it is not the football club that is to blame for the fact that nothing changes – the stadium does not belong to the club, it is the city and not the BFC “Daugavpils” stadium. What will Daugavpils do after May 1, because nothing will change until then? Temporary grandstands will be set up on the Esplanade or around the square near the Olympic Center, but there is a fence and a wall too close to the square. It will be a temporary patch and it is not yet known what will be said about playing on the Esplanade after the first Super League games there.
