Several Gers partners are organizing a walking challenge in June to raise awareness of adapted sport and inform about a rare form of lung cancer.

A solidarity walking challenge is being prepared. From June 15 to July 1, teams of four will have to walk as much as possible, in order to earn points and thus win the first challenge “Let’s unite our steps”, organized by the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee (Cdos 32), the association Alk+ France lung cancer and the Gers Cancer League.

“Companies, associations or even individuals will be able to register one or more teams for the challenge, explains Sophie Médiamole, director and health sports project manager in the Gers with Cdos 32. Participants will have fifteen days to take as many steps as possible and meet the challenges. proposed challenges”. The Kiplin application, publisher of digital health games, is a partner of the event and will be the interface on which players will be able to follow their ranking, receive daily health prevention messages as well as respond to the challenges indicated.

Show the range of adapted sport in the department

The results will be presented during an evening at the Patrice-Brocas complex. At the opening, healthy sports activities will be offered to those who have taken part: walking biathlon/laser run and archery, healthy rugby and blind football. A concert will liven up the evening, the meal of which should be offered by Gers producers.

This challenge aims to highlight walking, but also the values ​​of solidarity and conviviality and responds to a double objective: “First of all, we want to do prevention by promoting healthy sport and thus showing the evolution of the “adapted sport offer for people who need it in the department, specifies the director. But we also want to highlight a rare form of Alk + lung cancer”. The latter comes from a translocation of an Alk+ or Ros 1 gene and mainly affects non-smokers, athletes, those under 50 and women.

The benefits of the challenge resulting from registrations will therefore be donated to the Alk+ France lung cancer association so that it can continue to make itself known, continue research for the discovery of a treatment as well as offer an adapted sports session / well-being. be per week to patients with this rare disease in France.
