US Open winner Emma Raducanu talks about the lightning separation from coach Torben Beltz and gives reasons

Beltz, who also trained Angelique Kerber for many years, is “a great guy. I really enjoyed the time with him on and off the pitch,” said the young Briton: “He’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met , so of course it was hard to break up with someone like that.”

For the time being, she will be supported by the British Tennis Association LTA, Raducanu reported.

At the upcoming WTA tournament in Madrid, for example, LTA head coach Iain Bates should be at the side of the 19-year-old.

“I feel like I don’t really need that conventional title ‘Emma Raducanu Coach’. (…) I’m not necessarily stressed or panicked about finding a new coach,” said Raducanu, who already has plans how she wants to work in the coming period.

Raducanu has worked with several coaches

“I think I’ll probably put more emphasis on sparring in the future,” said the world number 11. “The more time I spend on the tour, the more I realize that I just have to get used to the ball speed of these girls .”

She loves “to vary. I like to work very specifically and know exactly what I want to work on. Most of the time these ideas come from myself,” says Raducanu. Apparently Beltz was no longer the right coach for this. The reigning US Open winner surprisingly announced on Wednesday that she was separating from the German coach after only five months. Raducanu has already worked with four coaches over the past year.
