“This will be a long summer …” Wizard of Washington on his future – Basketball – Apollo.lv – Sports

The regular NBA season ended on Monday, April 11th. Among the teams that did not play in the playoffs was the Washington Wizards represented by Porziņģis. This means that for a Latvian basketball player the off-season has already begun. In a conversation with the media, Porziņģis highlighted the aspects of his game that he wanted to work on.

The center player revealed that he wants to arrange his long shot this summer. Although Porziņģis attacked with a precision of over 35% during the season, he ended the season with only 31% accuracy in three-pointers.

Porziņģis also revealed that he would continue to work on the game, which he has been criticizing from various viewers for several years. This summer, like last season, he doesn’t have to worry about recovering from another injury.

“Last summer I had to solve problems to get out on the field at all. This will be a long summer and I’m fresh and feeling good. I can play now. I’m looking forward to working on my skills, sunbathing and returning full batteries next year,” he said. Porziņģis.

The Latvian basketball player was once considered one of the most promising players in the entire NBA, but in recent years this view has disappeared. Porziņģis himself believes that he still has opportunities to grow.

“I would say that I have realized 60-65% of my potential. So I still have room for growth. My main thing is health and the ability to be on the field all the time. I think that then I will reach the level I want to be,” said Porziņģis. .

The Wizards team was one of the best in the entire NBA earlier this season, but injuries and internal inconsistencies gradually led the Wizards unit from the top of the Eastern Conference table to the bottom.

“On paper” The composition of “Wizards” looks quite promising without Porziņģis and Bīla. Cory Kispert, Den Avdiy, Rui Hachimur, Daniel Gaford and Kail Kuzma are relatively young players who probably haven’t reached their potential yet.

Porziņģis also believes that it is possible to play in the playoffs with this team.

“If we look at the last names, this is a ‘play-off’ team. It has to be a ‘playoff’ team. Of course it’s affected by various factors. I don’t want to promise anything, because the whole team is important, not just three or four guys,” he added. Latvian basketball player.

“With this team, I want to achieve the maximum that we can do with this group of players. I will strive for that. Whether it is getting into the playoffs or a step forward, I don’t know yet,” the Latvian basketball player concluded.

Porziņģis scored an average of 20.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 block throws this season.
