CR7 were out of control after United’s bankruptcy at Goodison Park. This drew further criticism from a former professional.

Former Premier League professional Jose Enrique has sharply attacked Manchester United’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. He thinks he is “God,” said Enrique, who had played for ManUnited’s arch-rival FC Liverpool when he was active.

The Spaniard wrote on Twitter about CR7: “I’ve always said it: I don’t like him. He thinks he’s God and thinks he can do anything. Despite that, he’s one of the best players in the history of football. But as a person I don’t like him.”

Enrique also posted the trigger for his criticism: a video that went viral over the weekend. It shows Cristiano Ronaldo throwing down a young Toffees fan’s phone, frustrated by United’s 1-0 defeat by Everton.

Ronaldo himself apologized a short time later for his action and wrote on Instagram: “It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments like the one we’re experiencing right now. However, we always have to be respectful and patient and a role model for everyone young people who love the beautiful game. I apologize for my outburst and, if possible, invite this fan to see a game at Old Trafford as a show of fair play and sportsmanship.”
