HUELVA, 29 (EUROPE PRESS)

Huelva City Council hosted this Friday the official reception for Recreativo IES La Orden, a team from Huelva that last weekend was proclaimed the winner of the National League of Badminton Clubs, the ‘TOP10 Division of Honour’, thus becoming the seventh league title in its history.

As indicated by the Consistory in a press release, in this meeting with the players and the team management, the mayor, Gabriel Cruz, has expressed his “enormous satisfaction” for being able to collect this “so important” cup on behalf of the city .

“A trophy that is a source of pride for all people from Huelva, because it is the best example of commitment, effort, desire to excel and of having put team spirit before personal interest, all going at the same time and with the same enthusiasm for achieving the same goal, to be at the top of the category they deserve”, he underlined.

In this sense, the mayor stressed that “after a decline that was not understood and having gone through two very hard years, IES La Orden has shown why it represents the best image of Huelva and a club with top-level players and immense possibilities, a team that has not stopped counting on the support of its fans and of course also of this City Council, since Huelva’s link with badminton is unquestionable, a link that last year led us to be the world capital of this sport.”

For her part, in this act held at the Consistory, which had the support of the majority of the municipal corporation, the president of the Club, María Eugenia Lorenzo, stressed that going to the Town Hall is for the club “like coming to our home” since they feel “always welcome”, for which he considers it “important” to share in the Consistory “the immense joy of being able to bring this champions cup and that gold medal that represents so much for the team”.

In this context, the coach of IES La Orden, Francisco Ojeda, also thanked “the great support and encouragement received by the City Council in this last difficult period.”

“A time in which we set out to be like the phoenix and rise from our ashes, a challenge that we have achieved and that made us very excited to be able to celebrate it and share it with Huelva”, he reviewed.

In this way, the courtyard of the City Hall of the capital has become a meeting place and “celebration” for the Recreativo IES La Orden, with this act promoted by the Huelva Town Hall to “publicly recognize the one who has already become the best badminton team of the last decade in Spain”.

Thus, after unseating “with great superiority” the Rinconada Badminton Club in the final held last Saturday at the Andrés Estrada Municipal Sports Center, IES La Orden “is once again in the ‘TOP10 of the Honor Division'”.

After this “very important achievement”, the team from Huelva already has its sights set on its next sporting challenge, winning the international club championship to be held on June 28 in Poland.
