French judokas are preparing for the European Championships (April 29 – May 1) in the best possible way by winning seven medals at the grand slam in Antalya (Turkey).
The raid for the French women of judo during the grand slam of Antalya (April 1 – April 3). A total of seven medals were won. Léa Fontaine (+78 kg) won the gold medal against the Israeli Raz Hershko on an ippon osae komi. The young Frenchwoman was scared during her fight. After a first shido given to Hershko for false, Fontaine in turn received two penalties for passivity. The Israeli was surprised by Léa Fontaine’s ippon. In the semi-final, the Frenchwoman won against her compatriot Julia Tolofua who won the bronze medal.
A collective form
Another golden tricolor, Marie-Ève Gahié in the -70kg category. The Frenchwoman got rid of her Austrian opponent Bernadette Graf with an incredible ippon tani otoshi. As Graf led from a wazari, Gahié pulled herself together and knocked down her opponent in the space of fifteen seconds. In the same category, Margaux Pinot obtained the bronze medal after her victory against the German Miriam Butkereit.

Audrey Tcheuméo (-78 kg) won bronze in the repechage final against another Frenchwoman, Madeleine Malonga. Sarah-Leonie Cysique, vice Olympic champion of -57kg, is satisfied with the silver medal. She lost to Canadian Jessica Klimkait, world No. 1 and 2021 world champion.
Confirm before the European Judo Championships
In the fight for third place in the -52kg, Astrid Gneto won the golden score against the Brazilian Larissa Pimenta, Pan American champion 2021. Mélanie Leroux-Clément (-48kg) lost to the Spanish Lapuerta- Comas for the bronze medal. Thanks to the performances of the French women, Les Bleues finished second in the nations ranking. Next meeting for the French women in judo: the European championships in Sofia (Bulgaria) from April 29 to May 1.
