The French archery championship in sight

This Sunday, April 10, took place, at the club of archers of Montgiscard, a qualifying competition for the next French championship of nature archery. It attracted around sixty archers from all over Occitania. The 3 km route is through the woods with a nice drop.

Approved by the federation, it includes around twenty targets representing animals.

Each of them contains a restricted zone giving the maximum points and an intermediate zone. Archers must make two consecutive shots within a given time (up to 45 seconds) at different positions. For juniors, the position remains the same and the difficulty less. They can earn a maximum of 35 points per target. Each shot is validated by two referees from different clubs, in order to guarantee neutrality.

In Occitania, five clubs organize about fifteen qualifying tournaments for the French championship during the year. The next one will take place in Bonneval (Eure-et-Loire) on June 18 and 19.

To be selected, the three best results of the competitions carried out by the archer are retained. The Montgiscard Archers Club has 102 members in 2022, a number that continues to grow.

Among them, around twenty are generally selected for the French championship.
