The Colombian Football Federation announced this Monday the departure of the technical direction of the Colombian National Team of Reinaldo Rueda.
Since the elimination of the National Team, in the last match against Venezuela, it was considered a fact that the Valle del Cauca helmsman I would not continue at the head of the national team. As he himself announced, his contract was conditional on qualifying for Qatar 2022.
In the statement issued by the Federation, it is said that the parties reached an agreement for his departure.
“The Executive Committee agreed with Professor Reinaldo Rueda, his dismissal to the position of technical director of the SColombian Men’s Election for Seniorsas well as his coaching staff.
Likewise, they thanked the coach for his management: “We express to Professor Rueda and his collaborators our most sincere wishes for success in their future work and in their personal projects, but not before also expressing our appreciation for their dedication and work” .
Finally, the statement states that they will start the process to choose a new coach.
“The Executive Committee will analyze and evaluate the existing options or those that may exist, in order to determine who should assume the technical direction of our Colombia Men’s National Team in the near future.”
The Valle del Cauca coach, in his second stage with the Colombian National Team, directed 22 games, won 7, lost 5 and drew 10 times, for a yield of 46.97%. In addition, in the Copa América in Brazil he reached third place, but failed to qualify for the Qatar-2022 World Cup after finishing in sixth place in the Qualifiers standings with 23 units.
