Javier Baezcampocorto ex Chicago Cubs that signed this Free Agency with the Central AL team a contract for six seasons and US$140 million, he will be on the disabled list for ten daysin a move that will be retroactive to April 13.

Baez was not in the lineup in recent games in the young MLB campaign and his status was beginning to lead to time being lost in the field. An injury to the thumb will be the one that will keep him on the sidelines for an undetermined time.

“The Wizard,” a nickname earned for the wonderful defensive displays in his time with the Chicago Cubs, had injured his finger celebrating the Tigers’ opening victory of the season, and is expected to miss at least two weeks.

Detroit has yet to make a decision on who will replace Baez on the major league roster, with Harold Castro taking most of the plate appearances for now. The debut of Zack Short or a new call up to the majors for Willi Castro are the most viable options on the table for AJ Hinch.
