The Blueberries take date at the Worlds

France obtained a very satisfactory record of six medals at the Junior & Cadet World Championships, held in the United Arab Emirates.

For the United States, Paris 2024 and especially Los Angeles 2028 are looking good. The USA indeed finished first in the Juniors & Cadets championships, with 15 medals, including six titles. For its part, France inherits the fifth rank. A fine fifth place, with six medals on the clock.

An overall performance that owes a lot to Anas Anane. The young French fencer leaves the United Arab Emirates with two medals: bronze in the individual event, and silver in the team, along with Valérian Castanié, Paul-Antoine De Belval and Adrien Spichiger. If we are talking about foil here, these are all the weapons that have managed to shine during these Worlds. In epee, Lino Heurlin-Vazquez won bronze individually, but also in team with Paul Fortin, Alban Diane and Julien Maury.

A promising assessment for 2024 and 2028

On the sabre side, Amalia Aimé, Cyrielle Girardin, Mathilde Mouroux and Lola Tranquille perpetuated the French tradition of shining in team events. They won the gold thanks to a magnificent group performance. Among the cadets, it was Alejandra Manga who showed a broad smile on the podium, after her individual bronze medal.

In the eyes of Virginie Thobor, national technical director, “It’s a very good performance for the young medalists who have confirmed for some of them their positioning among the best. The future continues to be built: perseverance, rigor and commitment are the keys. » A feeling shared by Pierre Guichot, Director of the French teams. “The French U17-U20 team maintained its rank at the World Championships in Dubai by bringing back a total of 6 medals (one in U17 and five in U20), in an increasingly challenging international context. It should be noted that the 3 weapons come back with medals and that we also managed to place a certain number of shooters in the top 8, which testifies to a very good group dynamic, driven by a strong spirit of cohesion. »
