The Blue Jays come from behind

The Toronto Blue Jays didn’t let a three-point deficit get in the way, as they came from behind to defeat the Astros 4-3 on Friday in Houston.

Starting pitcher Ross Stripling didn’t get off to the start he probably wanted, allowing three runs, all in the third inning. He was finally retired after four innings of work, allowing five hits and one walk. He was not involved in the decision.

It was also a few moments before Stripling’s withdrawal that the visitors activated their offensive machine. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. then hit a ground ball that allowed Raimel Tapia to cross the plate.

From the next assault, Santiago Espinal and Bradley Zimmer each expelled a Justin Verlander offering out of bounds, thus creating the equality. Matt Chapman capped off the comeback with a resounding double that allowed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to start from first base and bring himself to home plate.

Reliever Tim Mayza (1-0), who came to the mound for the eighth inning, inherited the win, while Jordan Romano got runners to first and third base in the ninth inning, before recording the final two outs to sign his eighth save of the season.

Judge sort ses gros bras

In New York, Aaron Judge did what he does best: hitting the long ball. He drove in three of the team’s four runs in the Yankees’ 4-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians.

Judge first hit a two-run long ball in the third inning, before repeating the whole thing, solo however, two rounds later.

Pitcher Jameson Taillon (1-1) scored the win despite allowing seven hits in five innings of work. He notably retired five opponents on strikes. Aroldis Chapman finished the job in the ninth inning, making his fourth save of the campaign.

The Red Sox defeat a rival

The season is still young, but already every game could turn out to be important and the Boston Red Sox got the better of a direct opponent in the American League East, at Tropicana Field, by defeating the Tampa Rays Bay 4 to 3.

Xander Bogaerts had a strong game, amassing three hits but failing to produce any runs. He nevertheless completed the lap of the trails twice.

In the camp of the Rays, Wander Franco has among other successful two solo homers.
