The former Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova is pregnant with her first child, the former world number one announced on Tuesday, on the day of her 35th anniversary.
“Precious beginnings! Eating a birthday cake for two has always been my specialty », he posted on her Instagram account, as a text of a photo showing her belly, on a beach.
Sharapova has been in a relationship since December 2020 with British businessman Alexander Gilkes.
The former tennis player, who retired in February 2020, won five Grand Slam titles (2008 Australian Open, 2012 and 2014 Roland-Garros, 2004 Wimbledon and the 2006 US Open).
