Dhe San Antonio Spurs suffered a defeat on Saturday (local time) in the last home game of the National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season. Without Jakob Pöltl and their usual starting lineup, they lost to the Golden State Warriors 94-100. This means that the Texans will play tenth in the Western Conference against the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round of play-in play-off qualifiers on Wednesday.
Pöltl was again plagued by back problems. San Antonio was also missing All-Star Dejounte Murray, who was still ill, as well as the ailing Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Doug McDermott. The Warriors started without the injured Stephen Curry and also without Klay Thompson.
The local NBA pioneer attested his playable colleagues a “good fight”. Lonnie Walker IV was the top scorer with 24 points. In the 82nd and last game of the regular season, San Antonio meets the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, who still have third place in the Western Conference in their sights in the long-distance duel with Golden State.
NBA results from Saturday: San Antonio Spurs (without Jakob Pöltl) – Golden State Warriors 94:100, Philadelphia 76ers – Indiana Pacers 133:120, Memphis Grizzlies – New Orleans Pelicans 141:114, LA Clippers – Sacramento Kings 117:98
