School sports competitions return to face-to-face in Los Ríos

The Seremi de Deportes reported this Friday that school sports competitions return to face-to-face for youth and sub-14 categories.

This is how it is being prepared by the Valdivia High Performance Center, as stated by Claudio Calderón in charge of the high performance and competition department.

“The great novelty is that it will be in person, unlike other years when we tried to keep the sport alive in a virtual way where the children competed from home. The great news this year is that sport returns to face-to-face with children on the courts and in sports venues,” Calderón said.

As for the competition itself, this year the seven individual competitions will be held, including swimming, athletics, cycling, judo, taekwondo, table tennis, chess, basketball, handball, futsal, soccer and volleyball.

All these sports will have a competition format where the 12 communes of the Los Ríos region will meet.

“This year we have news and that is that the high performance department, together with the rowing association, included the latter to develop it as a school sport and as a regional identity sport,” said the head of the high performance and competition department.
