RWE: Uhlig on the Plechaty-Davari dispute and promotion goal

Before the game between Rot-Weiss Essen and 1. FC Köln II, Marcus Uhlig answered questions on “Staige.TV”. The RWE boss also commented on a dispute after the Ahlen defeat.

Marcus Uhlig has held back a bit in the last few days. On Friday evening he was on “Staige.TV” before the Regionalliga West duel between Red and white food and the U21 des 1. FC Cologne (RS ticker) in front of the camera and spoke about various topics.

Marcus Uhlig on…

… the construction work on Hafenstraße: “The excavators have been rolling at our training ground for a good two weeks. We announced last year that we urgently need to do something and are doing it now. The construction work is divided into two sections. We will first build another training area. It should also be ready in three to four weeks. The second construction phase includes our current training field. This will be widened and given the same dimensions as the stadium lawn. We will also build a small covered grandstand. It is then well suited for our training kibitzers, but also for any test matches. In addition, we will renew the fence system and floodlights on both training areas. So that we can in principle make good use of the area made available to us and have more training opportunities.

… the LED sponsorships: “We’re already lagging behind our optimistic timetable. But that’s currently the case with many construction sites and construction projects. Due to the global situation, keywords the Ukraine war and the corona pandemic, it’s more difficult to get building materials. I still can’t give a timetable. I hope that our service provider can start there soon. The sale of the sponsorships is going on and well, the implementation will take a little longer.”

If after Aachen we’re ready to do it on our own, then we’ll do it one hundred percent.

… the sporting situation: “Things haven’t gone perfectly lately. The defeat in Ahlen hurts and is still lagging behind a bit. In addition, we have to assume that the points from the Münster game will stay with the Prussians. If things turned out differently, then so be it nicer. We now have to get through the upcoming games: against Cologne, Tuesday in Oberhausen and Sunday in Aachen. These are the right boards. We just have to get through them, there’s no need to play nice or lament. The attitude and mentality have to be right! When we go to Aachen are so far that we can do it on our own, then we can do it one hundred percent.

… the atmosphere in the team: “The atmosphere after Ahlen was not good in the dressing room. Sandro Plechaty and Daniel Davari didn’t agree after the game and got into a fight. Everyone noticed that. Maybe a fight like that has to happen sometimes. But maybe you don’t have to in public. That shows that there is life in the squad. They have spoken out and are good. In Wiedenbrück the attitude and mentality were right again. Nevertheless, we are missing the three points from Ahlen and we shouldn’t do much more to permit.
