RWDM therefore has to pick up a 1-0 deficit in Seraing and will have to tap into a different approach offensively than in the first match. RWDM coach Vincent Euvrard has an ideal scenario in mind.
“An early goal would be ideal, so we can put them under pressure from the beginning of the game. But in football things don’t always go the way you want,” Euvrard warned at the press conference. “We will have to be smart and above all dare to play forward, as we do in every game.”
“We have analyzed the first leg and now know what we have to do better. In the first leg we showed that we can hurt Seraing. We are only one goal behind, everything is still possible.”
To count out Seraing, RWDM will need a fit Igor De Camargo. The striker left the field in the first leg with pain in his ankle, but will normally be at kick-off on Saturday. “It is the last match of his career. He will be 100 percent,” Euvrard expects.
The players of RWDM also believe that they can bring the club back to the highest football division for the first time since the 2001-2002 season. “It lives in the group. We go to Seraing with full confidence, ambition and a lot of desire to win”, said attacker Lenny Nangis.
“In the first match we may have shown a little too much respect for our opponent by playing very low football. This time we mainly want to endanger ourselves in their half.”
