Roland-Garros will host a padel Grand Slam organized by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and QSI

A few weeks after the 121st edition of Roland-Garros, another racket sport will take over the courts at Porte d’Auteuil, from July 11 to 17. The French Tennis Federation announced it in a press release. “Premier Padel”, the new world padel circuit, will organize one of its Grand Slams there. Financed by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the fund that owns Paris-Saint-Germain and chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the circuit is looking for three other cities to set up its other “Majors” there.

“Premier Padel” plans to organize at least 25 tournaments per year by 2024, imitating the categories of the ATP and WTA circuit in tennis: Majors, Masters 1000 and ATP 500. “From day one, we said the new official circuit would take the sport to the top. The organization of a “Major” at the Roland-Garros stadium bears witness to this”, welcomes Nasser Al-Khelaïfi in a press release. Doha is hosting the circuit’s first major tournament this weekend, the Oredoo Qatar Major.
