March 26, 2022 – an important date for many judoka in the U13 age group in the Leipzig sports district, because after a long absence from competition, a district individual championship was held again. The athletes born between 2010 and 2012 arrived at the sports hall of the riot police in Leipzig under the continued hygiene measures, this time together with a limited number of interested parents and spectators. For some it was the first competition ever, for others the first in the new age group and others came as experienced U11 fighters. Under the watchful eyes of the main referee Claudia Müller and her colleagues, all the children fought their fights on the three mat areas prepared by PSV Leipzig. As usual, the capacities of the City Judo Association in Leipzig were available to ensure that the checkweigher and the list management as well as the registration and award ceremony ran smoothly. In the end, its chairman Reiner Hartmann also took on the honorable task of the award ceremony and was thus able to congratulate those who deservedly qualified for the state individual championship on April 9th, 2022.
All in all a successful start to the season. Many thanks to everyone involved and good luck to all judoka at the state individual championship.
