Rangnick believes Ten Hag can resurrect the Red Devils

Manchester

Ralf Rangnick doesn’t really know Erik ten Hag, the new manager of Manchester United. But, he believes Ten Hag can raise the club from adversity.

Rangnick’s tenure will end when the 2021/2022 season finishes next month. Next Rangnick will occupy the position of advisor to the club.

His position will be replaced by Ten Hag who is currently still coaching Ajax Amsterdam. The Dutchman has agreed to a three-year contract and will start working in July.

Ten Hag certainly has a big burden to lift MU’s achievements which have slumped in the last five years. In this season, MU does not necessarily finish in the top four and that means there is no Champions League next season.

Whereas MU used to be a big club that regularly won trophies every season and was scary for its opponents. That was what Ten Hag had to return.

However, Ten Hag does need time because MU is not Ajax and the Premier League is more cruel than the Dutch League. However, Rangnick believes with his managerial qualities, Ten Hag can be successful.

“We don’t know each other personally, we haven’t met. But from what I’ve seen at Bayern Munich and Ajax at the moment, I like his style of play and I believe that with a full pre-season he has the opportunity to build and shape the team and staff he wants. I’m sure we will see improvement from United,” Ralf Rangnick told ESPN.

Erik ten Hag started his career as coach of the Go Ahead Eagles, before being pulled over to Bayern Munich II when Pep Guardiola coached there. He briefly coached Utrecht in 2015 before moving to Ajax in 2017.

He has two Dutch League titles, two KNVB Cup titles and one Dutch Super Cup.
