Provincial badminton championship: two medals for the North Shore

About twenty student-athletes defended the colors of the North Shore this weekend in the Lac-Saint-Louis region during the RSEQ Provincial School Badminton Championship. The report shows two medals for North Shore snowshoes.

We must look to the representatives of the Haute-Côte-Nord for places on the podium in the competition held at the Altitude high school in Pierrefonds.

In the juvenile category, in mixed, Rosemary Laurencelle and Nicolas Tardif, from the Polyvalente des Berges, hit a wall in the final for gold, losing (10-21, 6-21) against the duo from the region of Montreal formed by Selina Chen and Leo Guo. The champions gave up more than ten points, than for a single round during the tournament, or 15.

Kelly-Ann Deschênes and Jeanne Hovington, of Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur school, were also decorated with a medal, winning bronze in the youngest women’s doubles against the color bearers of Abitibi-Témiscamingue .

Côte-Nord was also part of the women’s juvenile doubles game for the Sunday playoffs with the pair of Sandrine Boucher and Alicia Bélisle. The two student-athletes from Polyvalente des Berges however admitted defeat in the quarter-finals.

In the regional standings, the North Shore delegation finished eleventh in the RSEQ Provincial Badminton Championship.
