Present Youth Festival opens tomorrow – Latest News from Guatemala

Infrastructure works, health and support programs were delivered yesterday by the president Alejandro Giammattei in the department of Sacatepéquez, with which progress continues in the well-being of the population, especially of the vulnerable sectors.

The president and executive officials met with mayors and the governor of the aforementioned jurisdiction, in Santiago Sacatepéquez, to address the progress of the projects that will bring development to the population.

It was announced that for this year they were allocated Q93 717 040 to the said department. The funds are the product of contributions from the Government of Guatemala to the development councils.

The head of state congratulated those favored by the PAM and urged them to take care of themselves, especially from Covid-19.

Deliver projects

During his work tour, the president inaugurated the construction of a health post in the village of Santa María Cauqué, Santiago Sacatepéquez, which will benefit more than 4415 inhabitants. The investment was Q5 417 779.

In addition, Giammattei notified more than 1,000 beneficiaries of Sacatepéquez about their incorporation into the Program for the Elderly (PAM)through which each one will receive a monthly contribution of Q500.

The President congratulated the new beneficiaries of the initiative, whom he urged to protect themselves, especially from the Covid-19. He recalled the importance of getting vaccinated against the pandemic.

For his part, the owner of the Ministry of Labor, Rafael Rodríguez, pointed out that the aforementioned age population is a priority for the Government. Currently, the project benefits more than 120 thousand people.

The head of state also participated in the inauguration of the replacement of the highway CA-01 Westin San Lucas Sacatepéquez, consisting of 12.31 kilometers, which will benefit 100,000 people who pass through the area.
