OM: Sampaoli’s message to Longoria

In front of the media, Jorge Sampaoli has never hidden that he was not satisfied with his workforce. The Olympique de Marseille coach repeated in an interview with Canal+ that he expected recruits suited to his playing philosophy.

“The team can progress. It will progress with players who have the level to make it progress, confided the Argentinian. For this type of game, as Manchester City does, you need players who have the ability to win. matches in this way. For me, football does not depend on the coach, it belongs to the players. (…) So I need players who, beyond assimilating the idea, have the quality to apply it.”

“My goals for the end of the season? I want to qualify for the Champions League, replied the OM coach, talking about his future. To stay here, I have to meet the expectations of the city. Otherwise, I won’t not be happy. For that, we need a competitive team to win the championship or a European Cup.”

A few months before the transfer window, Sampaoli is already warning its president Pablo Longoria.
