ORAN- Nine sports disciplines will be on the menu for the first two days of the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games (JM) scheduled for next summer in Oran, according to the program established by the organizing committee of this event.
In this regard, the Mediterranean mass will be inaugurated on June 25 by the first matches of the group stage of the football tournament. These first matches, which bring together the selections of the under-18 category, will continue the next day, according to a schedule to be established after a draw to be carried out according to the participating teams, since the registration operation is in progress. .
Four sites have been designated to host football matches: the 40,000-seat Olympic stadium, the Ahmed-Zabana stadium, the new Mers El Hadjadj stadium (Oran), and the new Sig stadium.
In addition to the kick-off of the football tournament, the first day will naturally be marked by the organization of the official opening ceremony of the World Youth Games. An activity planned for the evening which will take place in the Olympic stadium.
Eight other sports disciplines will make their debut on the second day. These are badminton in Oued Tlélat, volleyball in Bir El Djir and Sports Palace, handball in Arzew, boules in the mini LOFA complex (Es-senia), archery in the annex of the stadium Olympic Games, table tennis and karate at the Oran Convention Center (CCO), and boxing at the Palais des Expositions.
The next JM, which Algeria is organizing for the second time in its history after hosting the 7th edition in Algiers in 1975, will take place from June 25 to July 6, 2022. More than 4,000 athletes representing 26 countries are expected in Oran to compete in 24 sports disciplines, we recall.
