Murray will change his mind and will not miss the clay season

The 34-year-old Scot, who was training with coach Ivan Landl in Florida to plan his 2022 season, had originally planned to skip all tournaments on the clay courts.

However, he has changed his plans and will play in the tournament in the Spanish capital, which will take place from April 26 to May 8.

The three-time Grand Slam champion wants to play in tournaments before the upcoming grass court season. He has been training on clay courts and feeling comfortable.

It is not clear whether Murray will take part in the French Open, which starts on May 22 and will be the athlete’s last tournament before going to the UK to prepare for the lawns.

The former number one, which has recovered from a career-threatening hip operation, said earlier in February that clay courts exacerbated injury problems and almost forced him to skip last year’s Wimbledon tournament.

Murray has dropped out of the second round of the six tournaments he has participated in, including losing to Daniel Medvedev in a Miami tournament last month.

He recently resumed cooperation with Lendl. This is the third time they have worked together, winning all the Grand Slam titles under the guidance of a specialist. Murray, who currently ranks 83rd in the ATP rankings, has been looking for a coach since December, when he stopped working with Jamie Delgado.
