Mulhouse launches the French championship season

On April 7 and 8, Mulhouse hosts the French U15 to U20 women’s and Greco-Roman wrestling championships. A major event for young participants.

In this month of April, Mulhouse acts as the capital of the tricolor fight. While the adapted wrestling championships took place in the heart of the Alsace Regional Sports Center, it is the French championships of Greco-Roman wrestling and women’s wrestling, from U15 to U20, which take over from this Friday.

The competition will also be set up at the Alsace Regional Sports Center. From this Friday, place for the U15 women and the U15 and U17 in Greco-Roman. Saturday, it is the U17 and U20 women, but also the U20 in Greco-Roman, who will be on the track. Hundreds of participants will thus be gathered for two days for this first French championship of the season.

A major deadline for the rest of the season

It is the club “les Mempapeurs”, from the city of Sausheim, which organizes this competition in the city of Mulhouse. The Alsatian club had been in the spotlight during the 2021 edition. Licensed from the club, Marielle Graff had adorned herself with gold in the U20s. The event highlights future talents in French wrestling. Like Justine Vigouroux, titled in the U20s last year in her category, and whose future looks bright in the Seniors.

The wrestlers competing in Mulhouse are experiencing a rather busy start to the year. Despite the cancellation of the Challenge de France Henri Deglane last January, they had the opportunity to prepare for two competitions. First in February during the National Ranking Tournament in Cenon, then in March, during the TNR in Rosny-sous-Bois. This first weekend of the French championship will thus make it possible to establish a first hierarchy in this first part of the year 2022. A decisive hierarchy in view of the international deadlines in the different age categories.
