More than fifty Russian national federations intend to appeal to the Sports Arbitration Tribunal of Lausanne (TAS). This was announced by the Soviet Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsinspecifying that “The legal action is a collaborative effort with the involvement of over fifty federations”. The decision came after the ban imposed on Russian athletes from taking part in international competitions and tournaments. The first Russian federation to appeal to the CAS to readmit national and club teams in FIFA and Uefa was that of football. The international sports justice body, however, rejected the appeal. All forty international Olympic federations have banned the Russian and Belarusian flags. Only a small minority, which includes the International Judo Federation, allow athletes to compete as neutral.
