More Cimarrones join the National Universiade – La Voz de la Frontera

Athletes from the Autonomous University of Baja California continue their participation in the national qualifying tournaments, organized by the National Council for Educational Sports (CONDDE), towards the UACJ 2022 National Universiade.

The University of Ciudad Juárez will host the event that will consist of 27 disciplines in competition between May 12 and June 5. To the significant number of Cimarrones already classified to the national event, more have been added during the past week.

In the judo discipline, 9 Cimarrones qualified for the national fair; in the 62-kilogram category, Ramón Misael Hernández Martínez advanced, in 57 kg; Natalia Alejandra Rodríguez Ruiz, in the 48 kg; Claudia Araceli Cruz Terrazas, in 66 kg; Lenny Yahir Ruiz Mercado, in 70 kg; Lucia Araceli Villalobos Santana and in +100 kg; Ruben Julio Reyes Ruiz.

Also in 100 kg; Miguel Eduardo Águila Ruelas, while in the 81 kg; Iván Alejandro Díaz Gutiérrez and Iván Zahid Valenzuela Smith got their pass.

For badminton, 4 Cimarrones will travel to Ciudad Juárez: Shaila Ahtziri Guzmán González, Alma Karina Yamilet García Cervantes, Jesús Emmanuel Solorio Molina and Adelina Guadalupe Quiñones Ventura.

In university fight, 6 Cimarrones join the university contingent; Cristian Geovanny Martínez Corona in the free category of 74 kilograms; Ángel Gabriel Segura Téllez, in Greco-Roman 60 kilograms; as well as Sebastián Casillas Flores and Juan Roberto Ruiz Lugo in the 72 kg.

In the female branch; Katia Lorena Inzunza Madrueno in the 50 kg category and Denisse Duarte Guzmán in the 62 kg category.

In fencing, 5 maroons advanced to the national, in individual sword; Carlos Esteban Sañudo, Susan Michelle Vargas Espinoza and Arleth Karina Ortiz Sánchez; in the men’s saber modality, Ricardo Alfonso Osuna Lau, as well as Diana Laiza Preciado Najar in women’s foil.

It is expected that the number of Cimarrones will continue to increase in the coming days at the conclusion of the university qualifiers, within which the boxing competitions are about to begin from April 26 to 29 in San Luis Potosí.
