Montilla promotes Sports Days for young people at Easter

The City Council of Montilla has organized a free Sports Days, with open doors, for all ESO and Baccalaureate students for the next days 11, 12 and 13 April, that is, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week, with in order to promote the practice of sports in this age group, who will be able to freely practice various sports in different spaces. The sports modalities offered will be futsal, on the CEIP Vicente Aleixandre track, basketball, volleyball and badminton in the Sports Pavilion (on the three transversal tracks), and on the football field attached to the municipal stadium, 7-a-side football and athletics will be offered . All the activities, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and will be coordinated “thanks to the participation of the students of the Training Cycle of Physical and Sports Activities of the IES Emilio Canalejo, specifically those of 1st and 2nd of the Animation Cycle, in Around 25 male and female students”, as explained by the Sports Delegate, Miguel Sánchez.

The person in charge of the municipal Sports Service has also highlighted that the City Council had detected that there was an age range among the youngest, that “in the school vacation periods they needed activities and leisure alternatives”. With this pilot project, sports possibilities will be offered thanks to the participation of the students of the Formative Cycle of the IES Emilio Canalejo “to whom we consider that they are already part of the Sports Service”, explained Sánchez.

For her part, Francisca Casado, director of the IES Emilio Canalejo, has highlighted the importance of this type of initiative for her students, which allows them to complete the training “especially in the modules of Implements and Team Games, and also to when it comes to organizing massive sports activities”. In addition, she has pointed out that they know “that during this holiday period parents continue to work and it is a way of providing service to the city of Montilla.”

The Sports delegate has also highlighted that during these days the II Padel and Court Tennis Championship will take place at the Municipal Racquet Center, on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 April, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with several categories: Mini tennis (from 5 to 8 years old), Minors (from 9 to 12 years old) and Absolute (over 13 years old), with a registration fee of two euros per player, although for students of the Municipal School registration will be free.
