After discussing in-house whether there is a means of public relations other than SNS, we decided to recruit people who have ideas as side business personnel.

When we started recruiting in January 2021, there were 16 applicants, mainly from Tokyo, in the first two weeks. The age range was wide, from 20s to 70s. After screening the documents, I interviewed 6 people online and finally decided to be a female sub-contractor in their 20s.

We use a building material called “Yakisugi” for the outer wall of the house, which is made by carbonizing the surface of Sugi board from Kyushu. The durability is increased and the design is also high. I consulted with a subcontractor if I could publicize this method. Then, the sub-contractor suggested, “Let’s publicize in connection with the wood shock and invite media coverage.”

When I issued a press release stating, “If you use domestic timber, you will not be affected by it,” we were interviewed by two companies, including a newspaper company.
Until now, press releases have only been from the perspective of “I’ve done this” and “I’m going to do this”. I learned from a sub-contractor what kind of information the media is looking for now. It was a great learning experience to combine the information we are looking for with the information we want to provide to make it attractive.
