Mexico Open at Vidanta Qualifier Approaches

This Monday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 12, the Qualifying tournament for Professionals to the Mexico Open at Vidanta was held at the Los Encinos Golf Course, in Lerma, State of Mexico.

The tournament champion, Manuel Inman, obtained an exemption to compete in the largest sporting and social event in Mexico and Latin America, an official event of the PGA TOUR 2021-2022.

“Adding the winner of this exclusive qualifier for Mexican professionals, a total of nine Mexicans are assured in the field of the tournament, a historic number for a PGA TOUR event in Mexico and Latin America,” said Rodrigo Suárez Gilly, Director of the Mexico Open at Vidanta.

The field will be limited to Mexican professional players. The tournament will be played under the 36-hole stroke play format; 18 holes per day with a cut to 50 percent of the field -plus ties- after the first 18 holes. The player with the best score in the qualifier will win the exemption. In the event of a tie, it will be resolved hole by hole, starting with the hole designated by the Organizing Committee, eliminating the highest sectors until a winner is found.

The other five exemptions granted by the tournament were for Roberto Díaz, for being the best ranked Mexican in the Official World Golf Ranking -after Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz- who already have a PGA TOUR card and are confirmed to participate in the Mexico Open at Vidanta.

Álvaro Ortiz also obtained it for being the champion of the 61st edition of the Mexican Golf Open; Armando Favela, who won the Mexico Open at Vidanta Latin American Qualifier, to Aaron Jarvis of the Cayman Islands for winning the 2022 Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC); José Antonio Safa, for having won the Latin American Amateur Qualifier and for the Mexican amateur José Cristóbal Islas, who was chosen by the Selection Committee of the Mexico Open at Vidanta tournament.

Due to scheduling issues, Aaron Jarvis will not be able to attend the event, therefore, this exemption has been granted to Mexican Santiago de la Fuente, who finished as runner-up in the TaylorMade Golf Mexico Open at Vidanta tournament.
