Lyonnaises Malard and Bacha withdrawn from Les Bleues, Sarr and Morroni recalled

Lyon players Melvine Malard and Selma Bacha, injured, have withdrawn from the gathering of the French women’s team, replaced by Ouleymata Sarr and Perle Morroni, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced on Monday.

«Malard suffers from the adductors while Bacha is affected in the left quadriceps“, specifies the FFF in a press release. The first, a 21-year-old winger who already has 11 caps, is replaced by Sarr, a Paris FC player.

The second, a 21-year-old left side who discovered Les Bleues in November, is replaced by her partner at OL Perle Morroni (24 years old, 11 caps). Coach Corinne Deacon therefore still counts on 23 players for this April course, dedicated to qualifying for the 2023 World Cup. The Tricolores joined their Clairefontaine training center on Monday.

The French, opposed to Wales on April 8 at Llanelli then to Slovenia four days later at Le Mans, can validate their ticket for the World Cup. They are also preparing for the Euro, scheduled for July 6 to 31 in England.

For this gathering, Corinne Deacon did without PSG midfielder Kheira Hamraoui, after calling her in February. The Parisian is the main absentee from the France group, with the Lyonnaises Amandine Henry and Eugénie Le Sommer, dismissed for a long time.
