Liverpool Vs Villarreal in the Champions League Semifinals, Deja Vu The Reds’ Champion Season

KOMPAS.com – Liverpool is experiencing déjà vu aka repetition after ensuring themselves qualify for the 2021-2022 Champions League semifinals. Just like when they won the 2018-2019 season, this time the Reds will meet representatives of Spain in the top four.

Liverpool stepped into the Champions League semifinals after getting rid of representatives of Portugal, Benfica.

Playing the second leg of the quarter-finals at Anfield Stadium on Thursday (14/4/2022) early morning WIB, Liverpool drew 3-3 with Benfica.

Roberto Firmino scored two goals for the Reds, each in the 55th and 65th minutes. Another goal for the home team was scored by Ibrahima Konate in the 21st minute.

Meanwhile, three goals for Benfica were scored by Goncalo Ramos (32′), Roman Yaremchuk (73′) and Darwin Nunez (82′).

Despite failing to win in the second leg, Liverpool still strolled into the top four.

Because, in the first leg of the quarter-finals at home to Benfica, the Reds came home with a 3-1 victory.

Liverpool qualified for the 2021-2022 Champions League semifinals with a 6-4 aggregate win over Benfica.

Furthermore, Liverpool made by Juergen Klopp will meet representatives of Spain, Villarreal, in the Champions League semifinals.

Villarreal advanced to the 2021-2022 Champions League semifinals after ejecting German giants, Bayern Munich, with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
