Waasland-Beveren will not immediately return to the highest level. After the defeat at Lierse, the number 2 can no longer keep up with RWDM. The match at the Lisp was halted for fifteen minutes after bombs and flares were thrown in the stands.
Lierse didn’t have much to gain, Waasland-Beveren still had the prospect of 2nd place, which entitles them to jump-offs for promotion. The Waaslanders were also the most threatening before halftime, including a header from Vukotic on the crossbar.
