Lewis Hamilton: “I’m the one who decides when it’s done”

Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton responds to the criticism he has received in recent weeks and states that he still decides when it is over.

Now that Mercedes has not been able to produce a top car, Hamilton’s results are disappointing this season. The former champion also had great difficulty with the W13 during the race weekend in Imola. He finished fourteenth in the sprint race and he crossed the line in thirteenth during the Grand Prix. Teammate George Russell performs significantly better in the new car. The rider who came over from Williams was fourth in the feature race on Sunday to grab the black and white checkered flag.

Masterpiece

The Briton is still on the hunt for world title number eight, but will have to put those plans aside for this season. The visibly disappointed Hamilton would have doubted whether he would want to continue his career. Through Instagram he says, “I’m working on my masterpiece and I’m the one who decides when it’s done.” The 37-year-old Briton has a contract that links him to Mercedes until the end of 2023 and he doesn’t seem to have any intention of ending it early.
