In the Friday evening game, the Guggenberger Legionnaires from Regensburg earned a deserved 9:4 win over the Stuttgart Reds.

The table leader from the Upper Palatinate was able to celebrate the first run in the first inning. However, it required the help of the Stuttgart defense. After a single by Lukas Jahn, it was a fielder’s choice and two mistakes in the Reds’ field game that brought Jahn to third base. From there he had no trouble getting the first run after a wild pitch from Stuttgart’s Jose Mendoza.

As the game progressed, the guests in the TVC Ballpark continued to extend their lead. In the fourth inning, the Legionnaires scored twice. First Eric Harms was successful with an RBI single, then Elias von Garßen contributed another run after a SacFly. Devon Ramirez Beaver opened the sixth inning with a solo homer into left field. Shortly thereafter, Elias von Garßen secured his second RBI with a single.

On the other hand, Regensburg’s starting pitcher Christian Pedrol had the Reds’ offensive well under control. The German-Brazilian even pitched a no-hitter up to the sixth inning. Then Yannick Witt got to base after a single and Danilo Weber with a walk. Andrija Tomic took the opportunity and threw the game device over the ball park boundary in center field.

But then the guests took over the initiative again. After two runs each in the eighth and ninth inning, the game was decided in favor of the legionnaires. Devon Ramirez Beaver hit another home run and Von Garssen got his third RBI with another SacFly.

On the other hand, the Reds were only able to score once against Regensburg relief pitcher Sven Schüller, who came on as a substitute in the fifth inning. Schüller secured the save, Christian Pedrol earned the win (5 2/3IP, 2H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, 6K). The second game of the doubleheader will take place tomorrow, Saturday, at 2:00 p.m. at the same location.
