It has also not gone unnoticed by Red Bull team boss Christian Horner that Mercedes, the great rival of recent years, is struggling with its W13 car under the new regulations this year. However, there is no question of pity or amusement.
In fact, it does nothing for Horner, he is quoted by the British newspaper Express† “They struggle”, Horner also concludes, but: “That doesn’t bother me, I have no feelings about it. I’m just focusing on being competitive in what is currently a very intense battle with Ferrari.”
That said, Horner believes Mercedes will eventually recover from its struggles. “I have no doubt that they will join the fray at some point, but so focus on my own team,” he repeats.

Where the title battle between Red Bull and Mercedes in 2021 was very tough and also had a very sharp edge off the track, it is (for now) more respectful with Ferrari. “Fighting Ferrari is always different,” says Horner Eurosportalthough there may still be something to it: “There may also be a little less animosity than has developed between us and some of our other rivals.”
